Pacific Energy Summit

On the 23rd to 27th March 2013, the CEO of SROS Tilafono D. Hunter and Principal Research Scientist of the Environment and Renewable Energy (ERE) Division, Lilo Samani Tupufia were part of Samoa's delegation to the Pacific Energy Summit held in Auckland, led by the Honourable Prime Minister of Samoa, Tuilaepa Lupeisolia'i Fatialofa Naioti Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi. The summit provided an opportunity for Pacific countries to present their energy plans for reducing the use of fossil fuels through public and private sector investments in renewable electricity generation and energy efficiency. It also presented a unique opportunity to network with other Pacific leaders, international donor and development agencies and financial institutions, gain and share knowledge of energy projects undertaken and implemented and showcase respective countries energy initiatives. As part of Samoa’s display, SROS showcased its biodiesel, bio-ethanol research findings as well as its international IANZ accredited laboratory technical capabilities having the capacity to analyse standards for renewable energy developed fuel.
