In a significant step toward developing a National Quality Policy for Samoa, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour, in collaboration with the PACER Plus Program and the British Standards Institution (BSI Group), organized a series of face-to-face stakeholder consultations. A key highlight of these efforts was the site visit to the Scientific Research Organization of Samoa (SROS) by Dr. George Bamopoulos and Dr. Nahyun Kim from the BSI Group, along with representatives from the Kiribati Ministry of Commerce Industry & Cooperatives (MCIC) and the Samoa Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour (MCIL).
This visit was integral to ensuring inclusiveness and raising awareness among all relevant stakeholders in the policy’s formulation process. The delegation focused on exploring the laboratories, scientific testing, and services offered by SROS, emphasizing the organization’s pivotal role in strengthening Samoa’s National Quality Infrastructure System. This visit underscores the collaborative and international approach being adopted to enhance Samoa’s quality infrastructure, aligning with global standards and practices.
